Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 9-Oct-2001

TUESDY, OCTOBER 9, 2001: Opening scene is IAN AND EVE AT THE LOFT. They are kissing & hugging about the flowers. Then Eve shows Ian the torn picture of Anne-Marie with the note on the back & suggests he tell her about what it means.

Meanwhile, LUCY, ALONE IN THE WOODS, SEES RAFE. Lucy has a wooden stake in her hand & is surprised to see Rafe. Rafe is angry because Lucy has just tried to do what Rafe warned her against - summon up evil. But, Lucy contends, 'my friends are in danger. I need to do everything in my power to save them!'

Rafe continues to press his point and warns Lucy that she SHOULD be afraid. 'The evil won't TRY to kill you. It will SUCCEED!'

SCENE SHIFTS TO FRONT STEPS OF THE LIGHTHOUSE, WHERE ALISON GREETS JACK. Alison asks about Livvie & Jack tells her what Livvie told him - that Livvie decided she could not handle seeing Rachel just yet & that she went for a walk instead. Ali says she wants to talk to Livvie, but Jack says that Livvie was tired & had gone to bed. Alison mentions that she has had some problems develop with Jamal & wants to talk with Livvie about it. THEN JAMAL shows up, saying he had received Jack's message about Livvle.

Jack tells Ali & Jamal that he thinks Livvie wants the same thing that Jack wants - just a normal family. And that was how Caleb got her under his spell, by promising her the family she had always wanted. (Shades of Julie Devlin & Greg Cooper! That was exactly the same ploy Cooper supposedly used to brainwash Julie into becoming Cooper's murder accomplice! Maybe Caleb is the re-incarnation of Cooper, who promised vengence on the residents of Port Charles? Oh, well, time to quit thinking & get back to the 'plot,' such as it is.!) Jack tells Alison & Jamal that he plans to ask Livvie to marry him.

Meanwhile, LIVVIE, IN THE SHOWER INSIDE THE LIGHTHOUSE, begins to hear music. She yells at Caleb & sees CALEB'S GHOST. 'Thank you for inviting me in,' Caleb says.

Returning to the LOFT, IAN & EVE discuss Anne-Marie. Ian says AnneMarie was a dedicated, hard-working nurse who seemed to never take any time off for herself. So one day, Ian 'kidnapped' her to take her on a picnic. THEN they began seeing each other. Ian explains that he tore up the picture to give up the past, to keep from looking back and to move on to the future he knows he now has with Eve and Danny. Eve does not sound enthusiastically convinced about Ian's explanation. Eve muses about how little she knows about Ian in spite of all that they have shared together. (If they spent centuries time traveling together & still do not know each other all that well, I kind of doubt if they will learn anything new in this lifetime either!)

At the RECOVERY ROOM, JACK explains to ALISON & JAMAL the reason why he believes Livvie needs a family and that, by marrying Livvie and committing to that dream she has of the ideal family, Jack is certain he will be able to rescue Livvie from being haunted by Caleb.

However, JAMAL suggests that it is a bad idea for Jack to rush into this marriage thing just because the threat of Caleb is hanging over their heads.

BACK AT THE LIGHTHOUSE, CALEB TELLS LIVVIE that her love is making him stronger. Caleb gloats that the chaos in her friends' lives has begun. While Livvie protests that she will do everything to protect her friends, Caleb tells her that the seeds of doubt he has sown are now taking on a life of their own. Caleb tells Livvie that mortal love is NOT indestructable - that only the love that Caleb has for Livvie is immortal. Caleb also mentions that he will have a little help from a FRIEND and that he could not stop the destruction of her friends now if he wanted to do it. Livvie continues to protest that she will not let Caleb hurt her friends. Caleb tells Livvie that he feeds on the negative energy created by the fear & doubts sprouting between lovers in Port Charles. Caleb warns Livvie: 'Many will suffer soon - especially JACK.'

BACK AT THE RECOVERY ROOM, JAMAL SAYS TO JACK: If we can't talk you out of this marriage thing, we're behind you. Jack offers that he sees no reason to wait to ask Livvie to marry him. Jack is afraid that if he waits, something will happen & he will lose Livvie. All Jack needs is a place to ask Livvie to marry him. He wants to be sure they are nowhere near any place that brings memories of Caleb to Livvie's mind. ALISON reminds Jack of the way Livvie & Jack met down by the water. Then Alison suggests that they borrow AMANDA'S yacht. Jack agrees that Mrs. Barrington's yacht would provide the perfect setting for him to ask Livvie to marry him.

Meanwhile, BACK AT THE LIGHTHOUSE, CALEB TELLS LIVVIE that if the 'loving couples' of PC keep clinging together, they will all end up hurting each other. Caleb claims that sometimes it is cruel to be kind and reminds Livvie that JACK never could get over remembering when Livvie & Caleb were lovers. Caleb tells Livvie, '
as I get stronger, so does our love. Caleb urges Livvie to make a clean break with Jack now, to cut him lose - for Jack's own good. Livvie begins to hear music again & says 'Stop it, go away.'

Caleb says that Livvie's voice may be saying to go away, but her eyes & heart say something else. Caleb reminds Livvie that she came to him willingly and that what Caleb & Livvie shared together is something Livvie can not forget.

Caleb says to Livvie: I need you to give me life.

BACK WITH LUCY & RAFE IN THE WOODS, Lucy tells Rafe that she is determined to send evil back to hell. Then Rafe reminds Lucy that they can see in each other's minds and begs her to 'see what I see.' Lucy shares Rafe's vision of Lucy's future. 'OMG, you saw me DIE!'

BACK AT THE LOFT, IAN SAYS TO EVE: 'You think of me as a stranger? What can I do or say to reassure you that my love for you is constant?" Eve crumples Anne-Marie's picture into the trash, they hug & make up. (For the umpteenth time already!)

BACK AT THE RECOVERY ROOM, ALISON, JAMAL & JACK make plans for Jack to use Amanda's yacht for the proposal. Jack tells Jamal that he wants Jamal as his best man. JACK LEAVES. And Alison & Jamal talk about the distance that has grown between them since Valerie came into the picture. Jamal says the Valerie thing was his fault. But Alison says, you don't know how crazy I got. Jamal asks Alison what she did. Alison admits she went to Valerie & told her to keep her distance from Jamal. Instead of being mad, Jamal says he is kind of flattered to have 2 chicks fighting over him - but reassures Alison that she is his one and only.

BACK IN THE WOODS, LUCY SAYS TO RAFE ' You were trying to protect me from my death!' Rafe agrees, then Lucy tells Rafe that she is going home now.

RAFE, ALONE IN THE WOODS - says he knows who is doing this and that it is Caleb, trying to come back. Rafe promises to finish the job the people of Port Charles have merely started.

BACK AT THE LIGHTHOUSE, CALEB ASKS LIVVIE FOR JUST ONE KISS. As Caleb & Livvie kiss, Caleb materializes and Livvie swoons into his arms. Caleb picks her up, gently places her of a chaise and says: 'It is almost time. Soon I can let you remember. Sweet dreams. You have much to do tomorrow.'(Here's a thought - since Livvie's father is supposedly a psychiatrist who has successfully used hypnosis to help other patients remember things, why wouldn't it be a good idea for Livvie to ask her Dad to arrange for someone to have her hypnotized so she CAN remember? While it would be unethical for Dr. Collins to hypnotize his own daugter - even though he has done it in the past - it would give everyone a great excuse to bring Gail back to help Livvie remember her 'dreams' about Caleb!)

PREVIEWS: JACK & LIVVIE kiss & Jack says 'I have a special evening planned.'

IN THE CHIEF RESIDENT'S OFFICE, CHRIS SAYS TO KAREN: 'Where have you been? ' Karen replies: 'I've been at the District Attorney's office, turning you in, Dr. Frankenstein.'

AT THE LIGHTHOUSE, LUCY SAYS TO KEVIN: 'Rafe was
trying to tell me that I am not the only one in danger.'Sincerely, Irene
