Ian witnesses the kiss between Kevin and Eve. Kevin mocks Ian, who says that Kevin set this up just the way he wanted. Kevin hints at Ian’s indiscretion but doesn’t come right out and say it, and Eve does not catch on. Ian doesn’t question where his son is and why his caretaker is drunk. When Kevin finally leaves, Eve thanks him for not over-reacting about the kiss with Kevin. Ian tries to tell Eve about his affair with Lucy, but each time he mentions making mistakes or turning away from each other, she thinks he’s talking about her, and she inadvertently makes him feel so guilty that he can’t admit to having slept with Lucy. In the end, he shares fond memories of their love and speaks of moving forward, getting their relationship back. A tearful Eve has no reply.
When Lucy encounters Caleb and Livvie, Caleb suddenly disappears and Livvie plays dumb. She tries to make it seem as though Lucy is imagining him, just as she imagined Christina. Lucy, however, has it all figured out – Caleb’s mind games, playing on their fears, insecurities, etc. Lucy and Livvie return to the lighthouse. Kevin comes home and is quite agitated to find Lucy there. Neither Lucy nor Livvie question why he’s drunk and where the baby is. When Lucy tries to share her realization of the truth, including how she realizes that Christina wasn’t really there, he’s completely disinterested and sarcastic, but Lucy has no clue why. Meanwhile, Livvie sneaks a peak at the pics of Lucy and Ian in bed together. When asked if she was with Caleb, Livvie swears to her father that she hasn’t seen him. Kevin finally tells Lucy to just go home. He throws the tell-all photos in the fire, unaware that Livvie has kept one to show Caleb.
Jack tells Rafe that Livvie denied trying to poison him. He also knows that Rafe is holding out on some information that’s of importance. Jack questions Rafe about Caleb, and whether he can still control Livvie even if he’s dead. Rafe tries to lead Jack in the right direction, as far as he can within the confines of The Rules. Jack tells Rafe of the ring, the box, Livvie’s lapses and he decides it would be best for them to check out the catacombs. Rafe doesn’t think this is a good idea but goes along. Rafe nearly gives himself away by telling Jack that helping a woman once “killed” him. Eventually, they hear the music and find the box. Rafe pleads with Jack not to open the box, but he won’t listen. Light comes shooting out of the box, knocking Jack out cold on the ground. The box disappears.
Caleb, grabbing handfuls of dirt, pleads with the forces of darkness to return his powers to him. Suddenly, James appears, carrying the box. Caleb is most pleased.
Tomorrow, Chris tells Karen about reconstructing his research, Rafe tries to get help for Jack and James tells Caleb that Livvie is “humanizing” him.
