“Miracles Happen” - Episode 2

1. Outside Somewhere - “Dear Diary” - Rafe writes in his journal that it is going to take a miracle to get all the Port Charles couples to trust each other again by Christmas Eve.

2. Lighthouse - “Danny Needs His Daddy” - Eve is holding Danny and commenting out loud that he seems sad. Suddenly, a warm light falls on her and she remembers Ian reciting the poem about Daniel in the neonatal intensive care unit right after Danny was born. An excited Eve gets Danny bundled up and starts to leave. Kevin comes in as she’s going out, and he tries to stop her. What if social services finds out? he asks. Eve says she can’t explain it, but she knows that everything will be okay. She goes off. A disturbed Kevin goes inside. When there’s a knock at the door, he hopes it’s Eve returning, having come to her senses. But when he opens the door, he finds Lucy there. I have a confession to make, she says.

3. Jamal & Alison’s Apartment - “Together Forever” - Alison tells Jamal she’s not upset with him comforting Valerie the night before. She says she never wants anything to come between them ever again. And it’s okay if he wants to pursue a relationship with his daughter, Hope. Jamal says his cousin Darrah has not been able to locate the Hartmans, Hope’s adopted parents, so he takes that as a sign to leave it alone. Hope belongs with them, he says. All we share is some DNA. It’s best for everyone to leave her where she is. He tells Alison he needs to get to work; he’s doing a shift at the Recovery Room. They makes plans for a nice evening together later. After he leaves, Alison turns to go back into the apartment and finds Rafe in the doorway.

4. Eve & Ian’s Apartment - “Good News” - Ian is on the phone with his attorney, telling him to do something so that he can see his son again. He hangs up and there’s a knock at the door. It’s Eve and Danny. She wants to know if he’s up for some company. Ian is thrilled to see his son but he tells Eve she’s taking a big risk with social services. Eve agrees and starts to pack Danny up. She says she wants to try to fix things between them, because Caleb was the one who caused all the trouble. Ian doesn’t think it will be so easy. I can’t forget that you wouldn’t trust me, he says, and you probably can’t forget about me and Lucy sleeping together. There’s a knock at the door. Ian looks through the peep hole and sees it’s the court-appointed counselor. Eve wants to hide, but Ian convinces her that they should face the system and show them that Danny belongs with them. He opens the door. Suzanne, the counselor, is surprised to see Danny there without Dr. Collins. Ian points out that his son is happy with them. Suzanne says she stopped by to tell them that they have been granted back custody of Danny. She says she saw the light. She goes on to explain that silly as it sounds, in the moment of the beautiful sunrise that morning everything became clear to her and she realized they deserved to have their child back. Eve and Ian elated that the ordeal is finally over. After the counselor leaves, Eve says she will go get Danny’s things and tell Kevin the good news. Before she goes, she asks Ian if they will all truly be together again. Do they still have a marriage?

5. Recovery Room - “A Friend in Need - Again” - An upset Valerie arrives at the Recovery Room. She tells Jamal she was kicked out of the retreat (why?) and she has nowhere to go. Jamal says she can stay with him and Alison. You’re sure Alison won’t mind? a skeptical Valerie asks. She’s cool about us now, Jamal replies.

6. Back at Jamal & Alison’s Apartment - “Time for Matchmaking” - Alison is thrilled to see that Rafe is still on Earth, and she gives him a hug. Only until Christmas Eve, he says; that’s how long he has to clean up the mess Caleb left. He’s reluctant to say more, but Alison urges him to bend the rules and tell her what’s going on. Rafe says he has to reunite the couples. Alison is doubtful he can do that. But at least Jamal and I are okay, she says, and I have you to thank for that. She tells Rafe he helped her to think things through about Jamal and Valerie. She feels she’s a little more like him, no angel certainly, but she has more faith now, faith that good will always win. He’s rubbed off on her. You’ve rubbed off on me, too, Rafe replies.

7. Back at the Lighthouse - “Bad Timing” - Stalling, Lucy asks how Livvie is. Kevin says she’s sleeping. She’s been through a lot, he says, and so have you. He points out that she took a huge risk faking her own death. Lucy says it was nothing, then she gets serious. She says she’s been trying to figure out how to tell him something. There’s a thing that happened a few weeks ago about the time Eve moved into the lighthouse and after he wouldn’t believe her about Christina. I went a little crazy and was so very lonely, Lucy says, and that’s why I slept with Ian. Kevin admits that he’s known about that for awhile. Compared to everything that’s happened, he says, it hardly matters now. It doesn’t matter? What does that say about our relationship? an upset Lucy wants to know. She feels terrible about what she did, but it makes it worse that he doesn’t care. So you want to feel better? Kevin bitterly replies. He goes on to tell Lucy that it almost killed him to find out about her and Ian. He got drunk and came on to Eve. So you are still attracted to her, Lucy exclaims. No, I am completely in love with you! Kevin says. He throws something across the room to show her how hurt and angry he really is. And the worst part is that we’ve been down this road before, he says. He tells Lucy that right now Livvie is his top priority. Lucy agrees and says that Serena is hers; she needs to get the images of Christina out of her mind. They decide to take a break from each other. Lucy has to ask, though: what about the Christmas party/surprise wedding? Given how everyone feels right now, it’s not a good idea to have a party, Kevin says. Lucy sadly agrees. On her way out, she turns and says (trying to smile but crying at the same time), “Guess we missed our moment again, Doc.” A devastated Kevin concurs, “We never can seem to get it right.” Lucy leaves and breaks down outside the door.

8. Back at Jamal & Alison’s Place - “Hatching a Plot” - Alison insists she wants to help Rafe get everyone back together. She loves playing matchmaker, she says. Rafe warns her they can’t just shake love dust around. A wide-eyed Alison asks if there really is such a thing as love dust. Rafe tells her to get real. Sorry, she says, I AM talking to an angel here in my apartment. Rafe shows her an invitation to a party. It’s a Christmas party thrown by Kevin and Lucy. Do they know about this? Alison asks. Not yet, Rafe says.
