Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 11-Dec-2001

The show starts with Rafe at the Recovery Room writing in his journal. He is having trouble concentrating because he can't stop thinking about Alison. A woman sits next to him at the bar and soon she is spilling her problems to Rafe-her marriage is ending, her life is unfullfilled. Rafe once again uses his magic to make her see that she hasn't lost everything. The woman immediately feels better and she leaves to find her husband. Victor then notices that Rafe could use some of his own advice. Rafe then says that he is worried about one of his "friends" who is falling for a girl who happens to be involved with someone else. Victor first suggests that his "friend" go for the girl but then Rafe says that his "friend" won't be around for long, so should his "friend" still go after the girl? Victor then changes his mind and decides that the "friend" shouldn't put the girl through that.

Jack and Livvie are at "their" house. They are interrupted by a man who owns the property. He demands that they leave but then Jack and Livvie say that they are interested in renting the place. The man says that the property is already sold and a Burger Barn will be built in its place. Jack and Livvie offer to match whatever the other person paid for the place, but clearly, they don't have that amount. Then the man's wife, who happens to be the same woman Rafe counseled, walks in and wants to work things out with her husband. The two reminisce about old times, and decide to go to Sal's, the place where they got engaged. As they leave, they decide that Jack and Livvie can rent the house.

Back at their apartment, Alison is thinking about Rafe and their near-kiss yesterday. Jamal interrupts her and asks her who she was thinking about him. Alison says she was thinking about him and wants the both of them to spend some time together. Jamal says he can't get off at work but he wanted to do something last night with her, but Alison was out. Alison says she was with Rafe. Jamal doesn't like how much time she's spending with Rafe and his jealousy about the situation grows. Alison doesn't like Jamal saying that she shouldn't spend so much time with Rafe. Before their fight can get any worse, Valerie walks in with donuts. The phone then rings and it's Dara(Jamal's DA cousin) who has news about the Hartman's. They are in Chicago and Jamal wants to visit them to give up his parental rights of Hope. This upsets Valerie and she blame's Jamal's decision on Alison. Alison protests and says that Jamal made the decision on his own. Jamal then asks that Alison leave so that he and Valerie can talk about the matter privately. After she left, Valerie tries to talk Jamal out of giving up Hope, but he won't change his mind. After he leaves, Valerie vows to change his mind.

Once she left Jamal's, an upset Alison goes to the Recovery Room and sees Rafe. She sits down with him at a table and begins to tell him about her dilemma with both Jamal and Valerie. Rafe brushes her off and says that they will work it out. Alison senses something is up and asks Rafe what's wrong with him. Rafe then tells her that he has assignments to work on. Alison volunteers to help him, but Rafe doesn't want her to. He makes an excuse to leave. Once outside, he is clearly upset at how he treated Alison but feels that this is the best way to go because he doesn't want to hurt her by showing an interest in her and then having to leave.

At Karen's place, Frank is watching over her. Once she wakes up, she asks for Frank. She asks Frank if he talked to Chris. Frank says that he did and Chris refuses to help her. Karen is upset at how cold Chris could be but Frank decides tells her that he will ask Chris again, and he even will drag Chris over here if that's what it takes. There's a knock on the door and it's Chris, who is asking for Karen. Frank lets him in and Chris has some medicine for Karen. He injects her with the medications. Chris apologizes for not doing so earlier and says that he was too mad at Frank to help her. Frank apologizes again and Karen thanks Chris for coming through with saving her life. Chris then says that he's going to talk to Frank about her other medicines. They go outside and Chris says that Frank will have to pay for him saving Karen's life. Frank, knowing that Chris would demand something in return, agrees to pay up. But Chris says he's not interested in any money since Frank wouldn't have that amount anyways. Chris says that he only gave Karen enough medicine to make her feel better but not enough to save her life. Chris now offers his ultimatum: Frank needs to take a "permanent vacation" from Karen's life and she will live, or if Frank refuses to leave, Karen will die. Frank can't believe what Chris is suggesting, and refuses to leave Karen. Chris then says her life is in Frank's life. Fade to black on Frank as he is conflicted over what to choose.

On tomorrow's show:
Karen demands that Chris and Frank tell her the truth.
Ian offers to take Eve and Daniel on Daniel's first sleighride.
