Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 18-Dec-2001

At the beginning of the show, Rafe is once again writing in his journal--or trying to anyways. He is still thinking about Alison and how he screwed up. He is berating himself for his mistake and commits himself to getting his original job done and completed. He is also worried about Kevin and Lucy - he thought he had put them on the right path, but now he doesn't know what to do with the new "mystery woman."

Back at Jamali's place, Dr. Hartman is telling Jamal, Alison and Valerie that Hope has been sick for a few weeks. He and Mrs. Hartman put her through some tests and it was discovered that she needs a new kidney. He is hoping that Jamal and Valerie will fly back to Chicago with him to see if they are a match for a transplant. Jamal and Valerie agree and set off to go. Alison wants to go with them, but Dr. Hartman only bought two tickets.

At Jack and Livvie's new dream house, they are putting up Christmas decorations. Jack, btw, is wearing an NYPD blue baseball hat backwards--I suppose to cover up his new haircut!). They are listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree. Livvie suggests that they have a dinner party at their new house and invite their friends. Jack agrees and asks if she thinks they can invite Chris. Livvie agrees and tells him she thinks it's good that he's giving Chris another chance. They both then begin to think about how amazing it was that they both thought to go to this house when they were seperated. They then both tell how Rafe had a hand in steering them to go to the house that particular night. Jack wonders why Rafe cares so much about them and how it would be impossible for him to be in two places at once. Livvie, picking up an angel ornament, smiles to herself knowing why and how Rafe was able to do what he did.

Outside the recovery room, Kevin is asking Lucy what she wanted to ask him. Lucy is conflicted as to whether or not she will ask about his "patient." Kevin then says that he knows why she's so upset.

Back at GH, a nurse delivers some files to the front desk. Chris is standing there and tells her that she looks great. She thanks him and then Chris replies, "what a wonder losing 50 pounds and getting a nose job will do for a person." The nurse then shoots him a dirty look and leaves. Victor, dressed as Santa, and Gabi, pushing a young boy in a wheelchair, stop at the desk. Gabi tells Chris to say hi to Santa but Chris replies that there is no Santa, that the guy playing Santa is just Victor and Christmas is just one big scam planned to rob parents of their money. Understandably, Victor and Gabi wheel the kid away before Chris can do further damage. Next, Amanda Barrington then approaches the desk and asks him what's the matter with him. Apparently, Chris' truth-telling ways has gotten him into hot water with the board and Amanda wants Chris to stop. Chris says that there's nothing she can do to make him stop. She denies his assertion and says that the board funds his chief residency position and she can have him removed. She then turns around and asks the nurse for a glass of water. Chris says that he has what she needs and proceeds to kiss her, just as Jack is exiting the elevator and witnesses the whole scene.

We now go to Rafe somewhere outside. Livvie approaches him and dangles the angel ornament in his face. Rafe asks if she is trying to tell him something. She replies that she almost forgot he was an angel until she found out how much of a hand he played in getting her and Jack back together. She now notices all his work in getting everyone else back together. She compliments him on his work but Rafe says he's not sure how great of a job he is really doing. He is having trouble focusing on his mission. Livvie asks if he is depressed but he says no, he's on a high. Livvie then says that he has fallen in love with someone. Rafe protests that he and Alison are just friends. Livvie asks increduously, Alison? That wasn't the person that Livvie had in mind.

Back to Kevin and Lucy. Kevin is apologizing for not helping Lucy out with the party and tells her that as soon as he is done with his patients, he will help her out more. Lucy pauses and Kevin asks if that's what is making her so upset-him not being there. Lucy finally says she is but she knows how busy Doc is. Kevin has to go pick up some food and goes into the Recovery Room. Lucy then eavesdrops on his order and notes that he is getting food for two people plus ordering brownies - a food item Kevin hates. Kevin leaves and Lucy struggles over what she should do. She ultimately decides to follow him to see if he is going to visit his "patient."

Back at GH, Chris asks if Amanda is better and she says, disbelievingly, that he just kissed her. Jack then pulls them away and explains to Amanda that Chris has been under a lot of stress and that he is sure Chris was just joking. Chris replies that he wasn't joking and Amanda can only suspend him for a week. Amanda retorts that he's not suspended, but fired instead. She exits and Chris can't believe that he's fired.

Back outside, Livvie can't believe that Rafe fell for Alison. Rafe tells her that he and Alison were just hanging out and that Alison now knows that he's an angel. He has been confiding in her and is letting her help her in his plan. Livvie wonders why Alison didn't say anything to her and Rafe tells her that he told Alison to not tell anyone. Rafe lets Livvie in on some of his doings-namely, puting that curse on Chris. Livvie laughs and tells him that was a good plan. But then she tells him that Alison and Jamal really love each other. Rafe knows and promises he won't mess that up again. Again? Livvie wonders. Rafe then explains that he kissed Alison and Jamal caught them. Rafe confesses that he never had a chance to be in love the last time he was on earth. Rafe also acknowledges that he has a limited time on earth and knows that he has to straighten the situation between him and Alison before he leaves.

Back at Jamali's, Jamal is planning to leave and tells Alison that she should just buy a ticket and go with them. Alison tells him that if Jamal is a match for Hope, then she'll buy the first ticket out but she doesn't feel it to be all that necessary to go with him if he'll only be there for a short while. He apoligizes for tripping out about Rafe and Alison tells him that that situation is in the past. They kiss and Jamal leaves.

Still outside the Recovery Room, Kevin buys a flower from a woman. Lucy sees this and then sees Kevin leaving in the opposite direction of GH. She assumes the worst and decides to follow Kevin to wherever it is he's going and will get to the bottom of the situation.

Back at Jack and Livvie's house, Chris still can't believe that he kissed Amanda. Chris knows there's something wrong with him and Jack offers to let Chris stay with him and Livvie until Chris gets better. Chris can't believe that he has to stay in their "dump" of a house but Jack tells him that Chris should be greatful. Chris admits that he should. Livvie then enters the house and Chirs fills her in on what he did. Livvie laughs and Jack tells her to stop--Chris had a bad day and is a walking disaster. Livvie says that he'll be back to normal soon and Jack agrees and then asks if it is okay for Chris to stay with them. Livvie sees no problem with this and asks Chris if he'd like to decorate the tree with her. He agrees and admits that this is the first Christmas he has spent with family.

On the plane to Chicago, Valerie tells Jamal that Hope will make it through this. Jamal agrees and Valerie asks how he is holding up with what happened earlier between Alison and Rafe. Jamal tells her that he and Ali worked things out and he doesn't need to worry about Ali-she can take care of herself.

Back at Jamali's, Alison is putting decorations up and says that she has so much to do before Christmas. Just mentioning the day reminds her that Rafe will be leaving soon. Someone knocks on the door, and it's Rafe, who enters and apologizes for kissing her. She tells him that it wasn't a big deal-she and Rafe are friends and tells him that she and Jamal worked things out. She asks if he wants to help her decorate but he tells her that Jamal should be the one to do that. He says that he should be going and asks where is Jamal. Alison fills him in on Hope and Rafe tells her that he'll be praying for her recovery. He leaves and Alison wonders what's the matter with her.

At some hotel, Lucy spies Kevin knocking on a hotel door. Kevin enters the room and Lucy decides that it's time for her to know the truth. She bangs on the same door and a woman answers. Lucy tells the woman that she must have the wrong room. Lucy walks away and can't believe that Kevin has gotten involved with another woman. Inside the hotel room, the same woman tells him that the rose he bought is beautiful and that his "patient" has been waiting for him. Kevin, food in hand, enters the bedroom of his supposed "patient."
