Port Charles Update for Wednesday, 19-Dec-2001

In a hotel room, Kevin tells his mystery woman that the party would be a perfect time to tell Lucy about them.

Karen, Frank, Eve and Ian are in the on-call room talking about their Christmas plans. Eve and Ian disagree but eventually compromise. They talk about Chris being fired and wonder who will take his position. Eve tells all that Alan wants to speak to her later. Ian isn't pleased that she would consider accepting. Chris comes in and tells the couples that he'll be spending his holiday with Jack. He loves his brother. He helped him decorate. When he leaves, the others break out in laughter. From the other side of the door, Chris says he can hear them and it hurts. Karen and Frank exchange gifts which include the book "The Time Machine." Eve and Ian give each other extravagant gifts and admit that they went overboard. Frank suggests that Eve doesn't wear her expensive bracelet while at the hospital. Chris comes back in and comments on Ian giving Eve the bracelet when he's "already got the girl."

At Alison's, she and Livvie are baking cookies while talking about Jamal and Hope. She is anxious to leave to spend Christmas with Jamal. Livvie thinks she just wants to avoid saying goodbye to Rafe. Livvie reveals that she knows that Rafe is an angel and she knows about the kiss. Alison thought it may have been Valerie who told her. She feels badly about Rafe. Livvie says it's understandable that Alison is drawn to him. When Alison describes the magic that Rafe has shown her, Livvie reminds her that it's not real. Alison wishes that Rafe could feel the way all the couples in love feel. Livvie says that he came here on a mission. He knew that he couldn't have a life on earth. Alison tries to explain to Livvie why she's chicken about saying goodbye to Rafe. It's not like he's moving somewhere where she could see him again. When Livvie learns that Rafe brought Alison a flower, she tries to persuade her friend to see Rafe before he leaves.

Rafe is out in the woods, writing in his journal. He knows that Livvie thinks he loves Alison. He can't be having these feelings. He's leaving soon. He goes to a hotel ballroom where Lucy is in high gear with her clipboard, barking orders to everyone about the party. She is upset that Kevin is not helping her. Instead he is upstairs with another woman, "taking her temperature." Lucy tells Rafe the whole story of how she followed Kevin. Now she knows that he loves another woman. Rafe asks Lucy if she would take Kevin back if a miracle happened. Lucy says there is no miracle big enough. After she walks away, Rafe says "that's what you think." Later, Lucy is upset by a phone call from Scott who tells her that he and Serena have plans and can't come to her party. Then Lucy gets a call from Kevin. After they talk, he hangs up the phone but puts it on speaker phone, presumably by mistake. Lucy listens to Kevin's conversation with the woman. He says that he was going to spring the news on Lucy tonight, but he doesn't know if it's such a good idea. Lucy's heart is broken. After she leaves, Kevin comes in and asks Rafe what he can do to help. He also wants to know how mad Lucy is on a scale of 1 to 10. Rafe says triple digits. Rafe tells Kevin that things will turn out ok tonight. Next we see Lucy on a plane to Hawaii. She won't stick around to hear Kevin tell her about the other woman.
