As has been the habit with Miracles Happen, we begin our show with Rafe who is wishing that people would realize how important and all-important love is (especially now that he’s had a chance to taste of it himself.) Jamal and Gaby and Val are at a hospital in Chicago (is it the famed ER one? I don’t see Carter) waiting to see if any of them is a match and can save Hope. Ally calls, she informs Jamal she is on her way. But Allison has one stop to make before she leaves town. Kevin is a bit spastic as preparations for the party are in high gear and no Lucy. Don informs him that there is no way Lucy would miss her “special day.” Huh says Kevin, Don tries to cover. Kevin has something important to talk to Lucy about. Don just bets he does. Huh says Kevin, Don tries to cover. It occurs to Kevin that Don is strange – r than normal. Don decides it’s time to make his exit leaving Kevin to still wonder – where is Lucy?
Oh there is Lucy. She’s on a plane, headed to Hawaii and determined to share her entire life history with the poor man who was “lucky” enough to get a seat beside hers. Lucy is seizing the day and the residents of Port Charles will just have to have the party without her. She realizes the man beside her is – well – a man and she has a question for a man and the question in the midst of the babbles turns out to be how could a man say I love you one moment and make eyes at another woman the next. Lucy wants the guy to just tell her she’s a sucker, just come right out and say “Hey you are a sucker”, well no - don’t say that. Lucy was hoping she and her guy were finally going to get married. Well ta to Port Charles – in fact double double ta. Lucy doesn’t need Doc.
Back at party central, Kevin yells for Lucy and gets Serena instead. Serena is all dolled up and excited about getting to attend the party after all. She goes to check on the GPs – it takes Kevin a moment to realize she meant Grandparents – it would have probably taken me about a decade. The lady Lucy thinks Kevin is cheating on her with informs Kevin that “she” is waiting upstairs. Kevin informs the absent Lucy that this is not how he wanted to do this. Ally comes to say goodbye to Rafe; she will always remember what a wonderful place this is when she thinks of him. Ally is ready to say her byes and quickly exit left, but Rafe has an excuse – I mean a reason - to keep her there – he wants to tell her what he’s planning.
Gaby informs Jamal that he is her brother, he was there for her when no one else was, and if she is a match she will be happy to donate a kidney to her niece. Jamal comforts Val, telling her that Hope will be okay. Allison thinks Rafe’s plan is just awesome. Rafe wonders if he can pull it off, Ally has faith in Rafe. They awkwardly dance around safe topics; Ally is trying to get a picture of Rafe to keep in her mind. Rafe will see Allison again he reminds her. When Allison asks about heaven, Rafe informs her that it is different for everyone but when her time comes he will be there to be her personal guide. Allison wouldn’t trade the time she has spent with Rafe for anything, Rafe reminds Ally to have an amazing life, they hug. Parting is just such sweet sorrow.
The stranger has earphones firmly in place, but that’s not about to stop Lucy from talking to him. Everyone in PC will be sorry when they find out she’s not going back. Lucy has herself a little dream; she’s the lady in red – sparkles and seduction abounding. Kevin is the poor downtrodden schmuck in the same room with her. Unhappy Kevin asks Lucy to forgive him, Lucy replies in his dreams. Kevin wants Lucy to have pity and oh Lucy does pity him. Kevin is useless without Lucy, oh yeah that’s true. His universe is empty; Lucy laughs that he must live alone without her. Kevin falls on his knees; he’ll do anything. Lucy orders him to start with her foot and to work himself up. Kevin begins kissing away –
And darn it all Lucy wakes up. The man beside her has been replaced by a lady, who explains to confused Lucy she’s been there the whole time. Allison is on her way out the door when the phone rings, her flight has been canceled due to bad weather (she’s going to have to party after all poor thing). Dr. Hartman has bad news for Jamal and Val – they are not matches for Hope. But hey – surprise of all surprises Gaby is a match.
The party has begun! And at the door greeting people is Rafe, first of all Lee, Gail and Serena show up (looks like she found those GPs). Mary and Victor also wonder about the whereabouts of Kevin and Lucy – Rafe informs them the duo are just fashionably late. Victor has been having a feeling something is going on, but that may have just been eggnog fueled. Ian and Eve arrive, Ian in his monkey suit and Eve all dressed up in her best – newly acquired diamonds and all. They may have the looks but not the rhythm, dancing doesn’t go well for the still slightly awkward twosome. Karen and Frank arrive and decide to go in search of dark corners. Livvie, Chris and Jack are next. Privately Livvie tells Rafe that Chris’ spell has been a hoot and that Rafe is just well such an angel.
Where is Kevin? Why he’s with his mystery lady telling her now is the time and that it’s not going to be easy. Where is Lucy? In confusion land, the lady says she’s been on the plane with her all the time, the flight attendant is different than the one Lucy remembers but insist she too has flown the whole way with Lucy, and btw they are on their way to Port Charles. On no says Lucy reaching for her ticket stub she is on her way to Hono-Charles. The lady is all excited, they are going to be in PC for Christmas.
