Port Charles Update for Monday, 28-Jan-2002

Ian demands to know how Ricky got Amy's cell phone. Gaby defends her brother. Meanwhile, Kevin is still looking for Paige and stops Ian from beating the truth out of Ricky. Ricky gets defensive and has an argument with Gaby. When she leaves for the hospital, he decides he's getting out of Port Charles - with the help of a credit card in the name of Ricky Barrington. Kevin pulls Ian aside. Ian shares his panic over Amy's disappearance; he suspects she could be dead (hahahahaha) and tries to pin Paige's MIA status on Ricky as well. Ian takes off for the park to look for Amy, leaving Kevin pondering whether Amy's and Paige's disappearances could possibly be connected.

Valerie insists that Alison has poisoned Jamal against her. The gun goes off as Jamal struggles to get it away from Valerie. As Jack pins Alison to the floor, Jamal and Valerie face each other, both covered in blood and it takes a minute before we are sure who has been shot. Turns out to be Valerie. She collapses into Jamal's arms. As Livvie tends to Valerie's injuries, the paramedics arrive and transport Valerie to the hospital, where Chris and Karen try to save her.

Rafe demands to know who will occupy the 5th chair. He knows it's for someone close to one of the angels. Ed admits that the angels will be helping a resident of Port Charles to cross over. Amy isn't confident that she's ready for that responsibility but Paige is. Rafe presses Ed for more details - who is it, can they stop the death, etc. Ed reminds them all to complete the journeys they were sent to make and the women go back. Alone with Rafe, Ed shows him what Alison is currently going through. Down at the hospital, in the E.R., the doctors work on Valerie. Meanwhile, detective Andy questions Jamal, Alison, Jack and Livvie about what happened with Valerie. Sounds pretty clear-cut to him. Karen and Chris come out to break the news that as hard as she fought, they were unable to save Valerie. Tears well up in Jamal's and Alison's eyes, but he storms off to be alone.

Rafe asks Ed if the empty chair is for Valerie. Ed tells him that Valerie will be taking a different path but that the chair will involve Alison in some way. Ed then asks Rafe if he has the courage to go back and finish.

The she-angels land back by the fountain and wonder how to explain their absence. Casey takes off, casual as ever. Amy wonders why Paige isn't interested in who will occupy the 5th chair and accuses Paige of plotting to bring Kevin back to Heaven with her. Paige denies this, but Amy insists that it's her sight she has lost, not the ability to see the truth.

Frank crosses paths with Casey, very glad and relieved to see her. He admits that he checked out her past and wants to know why she pretty much disappeared 10 months ago. After telling him that she died and went to heaven (nothing like the truth to throw them off the track), she avoids his questions. He tells her he's only concerned because he cares about her, and she completely freaks out, knowing that the person who dies is likely to be someone close to one of the angels. She's not looking for anyone to be attached to her or vice versa.

Amy looks for her phone in the park when Ian arrives, very glad to see her and full of questions about where she's been. She tells him that he's just a colleague and hasn't earned an explanation of her whereabouts.

Paige hears Amy's words in her head as Kevin walks into the studio and discovers that she has not left town after all.

Tomorrow, Kevin questions Paige as to how she got from England to P.C. with an expired passport, Livvie tells Rafe that he's not where he belongs and Amy explodes at Ian.
