As we begin “Superstitions,” Alison returns to the Barrington attic and Rebecca’s portrait. She wonders how Rebecca came to life to save her and wonders if Rafe sent her. The memories of Rafe leave Alison grieving, as she wonders how she is supposed to go on and be happy like she promised him when she misses him so much. Looking in an old trunk, she finds candles which she assumes Rebecca made) but they look just like the ones they sell at Yankee Candle). She lights the Love candle (since when does she carry a lighter?). She remembers how Rafe came back to her once before and wonders if he can do it again. She finally blows out the candle and leaves the attic, but as soon as the door is closed, the candle re-ignites itself as Rebecca’s portrait looks on.

Ian arrives at the hospital with a flower for Eve. Colleen and another nurse are crying, and Colleen calls for Frank. Kevin takes Ian aside and delivers the news, which we don’t get to hear, only see the perplexed, disbelieving look on Ian’s face. Lucy arrives; she and Frank comfort one another. Kevin and Lucy try to stop Ian, who is insistent on seeing Eve. His face goes blank as he sees her lying dead on the table. Ian thanks Frank, glad that Eve had a friend with her when she died. They leave Ian alone with Eve. Outside the room, Lucy breaks down when she realizes that Danny has no mother. Ian finds the airline tickets (wait til he finds the present from Eve that he still has in his pocket!), talking to Eve as though she was still there. The coldness of the body shocks him and he covers her with her jacket. He lies on the table beside her, holding her and stroking her face, numb and shaken with the realization that he can’t fix this. Frank goes off to break the news to Karen, and Kevin refuses to let Lucy comfort him. He angrily stops an orderly from taking Eve’s body to the morgue.

Ed invites Eve to join the angels and she officially takes the 5th chair. She tells the story of the last minutes of her life, describing the accident, realizing she is dead and wonders how this can be, when she’s with them and they are alive. Rafe spills the beans that Port Charles has been abound with Angels. She realizes this was Amy’s secret, but Amy confesses the truth behind her identity and her failed journey to destroy Ian. Eve realizes that had Ian not been with Amy those last hours, he’d have been in the car with her; Amy’s true journey was to save Ian’s life and she thanks Amy. Paige notices that Amy can see and that Casey is finally happy. Casey asks Ed if she can be a guardian. Rafe apologizes to Paige once again and asks her how you ever smile again, how you ever move on, knowing you’ve left the one you love back on Earth. Eve tells the angels that there was nothing left unsaid between her and Ian (but what about all the things she never got to say to her son, just a tiny baby? This breaks my heart, it really does). Eve is sad when she realizes she’ll never see Ian or Danny again but Ed assures her that she will. Amy shares Ian’s last words of love for Eve with her. Ed tells the angels it’s time for them to move on. Eve asks what to do. Amy takes her hand to show her the way. First Casey, then Paige and then Amy step through, each turning back to smile at Ed. Then Eve goes, first tentatively, then with a radiant smile like the others. Rafe begs Ed for another chance, for a proper goodbye. Ed tells him his time on Earth is over, for good but Rafe can’t accept this.

Tomorrow, Kevin denies his connection to Eve and Livvie lashes out at Alison, not without consequences.
