It’s still Fourth of July in Port Charles, and Kate is at the hospital talking to PC’s best and brightest nurse Colleen. As she walks away, Colleen warms Kate that the floor has just been waxed. Kate, of course, immediately slips and falls. And then proving that she is indeed now a member of the Port Charles elite promptly begins talking to herself. She looks up – she screams – and we go to –

Karen and Ricky in the park. Lucky us. They talk about being out in the public, which is where Jamal and Jack find them. Apparently the thought of spending time with Ricky and Karen is enough to make Jack and Jamal do what they haven’t done for months- work at the bike shop. Victor! (thank goodness) comes by, all worried and looking for Mary. Something’s wrong, he can feel it.

The thugs do thuglike things to Mary.

And now we are back at the hospital, and back into the exciting and compelling never-ending story of Allison, Rafe and Livvie. Rafe wants to hear the whole story. Allison tells him it’s a beautiful story and nothing in the story should scare him. Livvie continues to listen in. Allison believes that when Rafe finally hears the truth, all will make sense. Livvie, apparently not at all worried they will hear her from three feet away, vows out loud to find a way to stop this.

Opening credits – names flashing by – there’s my man! And we are Torn into –

The Rafe and Allison story, complete with flashbacks (because it’s not enough they are on every day, we need to relive the highlights over and over and over...). Allison continues about how they were meant to be how perfect they were together and the first time they made love. She tells Rafe he’s her destiny. Livvie frets in the closet, Rafe memory is still not there. Allison reminds Rafe he woke her up when nothing else would.

Kate blames Ian for her screaming, he’s the one that filled her head with shadows and crusading angels and the such. Ian had no idea she scared so easily. It’s time for Bourbon Kate announces.

Victor, Jamal, Jack, Ricky and Karen (where the heck are Lucy and Kevin – did the board the plane mid-fourth of July celebration?) continue to search for Mary. Mary is upset about losing her wedding ring to the thugs who are feeling pretty darn independent – until they look up and sissy-scream. Mary wonders what happened.

The group finally finds Mary who tells them the story. Karen wants to check out Mary at the hospital, Mary tells the group that the thugs simply disappeared. At the bar, Ian admits he mistook Kate for a gin and tonic kind of gal. Ian – somewhat naively – believes there is a reasonable explanation for the shadow guy. Kate is ready to go back to the weirdness of Manhattan. She makes a phone call to her “significant other” who she apparently loves and misses. Ian decides it’s time to leave, as soon as he does Kate’s phone rings. Uh-oh, looks like Kate owes somebody some money.

Rafe feels drawn to Allison. It was hard to keep up with in the midst of all the mushiness, but apparently Allison believes that destiny has something to do with kisses. She sends Rafe to the closet to get her a blanket, but Livvie is saved by the appearance of Colleen who needs to check her vitals. Rafe goes in search of water, and apparently checking for vitals in a private room is a very up-close and personal affair as Colleen draws the curtains allowing Livvie to escape. Livvie wonders how she will fight destiny – and then has an idea (oh goodie.)

Kate owes some very unhappy person $20.000 and promises she’ll do anything she has to get it. Ian runs into the gang at the park and they run into the thugs who are hanging upside down from a tree, prattling on about a shadow guy with a robe and hood and no face.

Rafe wants to know why they parted; Allison wants him to figure it out on his own. Allison is sure Rafe will remember all in time. Livvie “runs into” Rafe at the hospital, and she’s all upset and Rafe has to prod the “truth” out of her – Livvie thinks she’s pregnant.

And on that “intriguing” note – the first week of Torn is over (aka Superstition redux).
