Port Charles, Tuesday August 27/02

Alison vows to save Rafe’s soul. Jack is surprised and angered when she backs out of the Bermuda trip, telling her how bad this will look to the modeling agency, and tells her that regardless of her reasons, they will no longer be friends if she doesn’t go with him, as it will endanger his job. Jack says Alison has put her whole life on hold for Rafe, and hopes it’s worth it to her, as Rafe doesn’t care. Jack runs into Chris, who’s worried because he hasn’t heard from Lancelot in a while, and it’s costing him. Jack offers Alison’s ticket to Bermuda to Chris. Ian tells Alison that Rafe has the Avatar imprisoned in the silo.

Rafe tells the Avatar that he understands that it was a real, good, decent person before being trapped under the shroud, and that it should free itself before it’s too late. Rafe warns the Avatar that the shroud will eventually destroy it, and all the people it wants to protect. Just as the Avatar is about to tell Rafe the truth about Livvie’s baby, Livvie sneaks up behind Rafe, conks him on the head with a shovel, and frees the Avatar/Frank, as Rafe lies unconscious on the floor. Livvie threatens Frank, saying the Avatar can’t be killed, but Frank can be, and she drops a lit newspaper into the cell. But as the Avatar rages in the fire, Livvie feels a pain in her stomach, and when she tries to drag the unconscious Rafe to safety, part of the building falls down on them, trapping them within the burning building!

Ian asks Kate why she couldn’t uncover the Avatar’s identity when she had the chance, and says she’s the only one that can get that close to the Avatar. He wonders if she’s protecting someone – like Frank! She denies it, saying Frank was near her when ‘Lancelot’ was doing it’s good deeds, but she can’t prove it. Ian warns her that whomever is under the shroud will be swallowed up by the evil of the Avatar. Later Karen dreams of unmasking Frank/The Avatar, and awakening, realizes it’s true.
