Karen revives Frank/The Avatar, admitting she has loved him (Frank) all along. Frank can’t believe that Karen knew he was the Avatar, and that she risked her life to save him. Frank explains how he became one with the Avatar, believing it was a good spirit, and would help him find his purpose in life. Frank claims that he has become a better man through the Avatar, and is back to being the man she fell in love with. Frank says he can’t understand why Rafe and Ian are standing in his/The Avatar’s way, and says he must finished what he started. They must be taught a lesson, he says, but Karen disagrees. Ricky meanwhile is leaving messages on Karen’s answering machine, wondering why she’s late for their date.

Livvie hopes the Avatar is dead, and burns in hell, then asks Alison if she really believes in the heart being connected to the soul. Alison believes that what you do comes back to you. Worried that Livvie hasn’t eaten lately, Alison pulls an energy bar out of her purse, and they share the snack, like the friends they used to be. They talk about their past friendship, and how they dreamed of being friends forever. Livvie admits that she knows how much Alison loves Rafe, and asks Alison if she loves him enough to walk away, and let him stay with her and their child. Alison says it’s not up to her – Rafe needs to save his soul by making his own choices and his own destiny. Livvie asks Alison to think about her and her child instead. As Rafe and Livvie leave, she almost collapses from the strain. Rafe promises he’ll stay with her and the baby, make a life together, and says he loves her.

Kevin asks Rafe how he really feels about Livvie. Rafe says he made a promise, and he’ll keep it, but Kevin says that’s not enough. If he can’t give his whole heart to Livvie, Rafe should let her go. Kevin explains that Livvie is not like other women, and has done things that some would call crazy. Rafe says Livvie’s not so fragile, and with or without Kevin’s approval, he’ll take care of Livvie. Kevin calls the hospital and asks to pull Livvie’s medical records.
