Frank confronts Livvie and Rafe, toying with Livvie’s mind over her part in the fire. When Rafe leaves for GH, Frank torments Livvie but she again attempts to blackmail him. Frank says he’s the powerful Avatar, and there’s not much time left to Frank Scanlon.

Kevin tells Lucy that Livvie lied about her pregnancy, and feels that she is losing her mind. He vows to stop her madness, probably from the family gene pool. Lucy asks Kevin how he feels as a father, and offers to go with him to see Livvie, but he says he must go it alone, admitting Lucy’s been right all along. They say how much they love each other, and he asks her to be there when he gets home. Meanwhile, Livvie is studying up on psychotropic drugs, when a dealer she called arrives with the medication, saying it will turn a person into a freak. Planning to use it on Frank, she asks him for a meeting, and prepares a syringe with the drug. Meanwhile Frank is trying to reach Karen, and worries that she’s with Ricky, so heads to Karen’s, where he finds her apartment in shambles. Thinking that Frank will arrive any minute, Livvie jabs Kevin with the medication when he comes in the door. He reacts violently, and runs from her.

Alison prays in the chapel for a sign from God, begging God to save Rafe’s soul. She is surprised by Rafe, beside her in the pew, who asks whose soul she’s praying for. She claims it’s just a friend she’s worrying about. Rafe says the chapel is the only place where he feels comfort, calm and peace. She asks him if he really believes in a human soul, to keep or give away, and he responds that the soul is the essence of a person, not to be given away. She asks him if theoretically he would give up his soul to save a loved one, and he says he would under the right circumstances. Suddenly they notice that a candle Rafe left in the chapel months before is still burning. Alison says it’s Kevin’s candle. Rafe says he found it in the woods, and knew it had to come to the chapel. Alison says this changes everything, and leaves the chapel quickly. She finds Lucy, and tells her about Rafe and the candle, feeling that it’s now true that Rafe came back for her, and she must help him, save him, or help him save herself. Lucy tells Alison that Kevin’s gone to Livvie to confront her about the baby, as they know it’s not Rafe’s. At the nurse’s desk, Rafe gets the results of the fire, and finds out that there were no human remains found.
