Imani seated, is cleaning green beans - Jamal sneaks over to see if the coast is clear for him to take a break.
Imani tells him what a great job he has been doing and says that for all his hard work, he deserves a reward. Jamal, who is “down with that” leans forward to get what he thinks is a kiss, but Imai gets up and says “I hope you like peaches” because he hasn’t lived until he’s had a slice of he grandmother’s homemade pie.
She brings two slices back and they both taste it. “Mmmmmmm, sweet” Jamal says. But Jamal notices just a bit on the edge of her lip – he wipes it off and licks it from his finger, “that’s even sweeter.”
[Cut to the Elixir, where the lawman/huntsman is entering the club, pausing only to take the badge off his belt and hide it in an inside pocket. [Apparently he doesn’t need "no stinking badge" after all].
He asks for a beer, and pats rIcky [who is seated at the bar] on the shoulder. He tells rIcky that he is looking for an old buddy of his, Jamal Woods. That he heard Jamal was living around there and thought he’d look him up.
rIcky asks: “and you are???”
Bad Man: and old friend. So, have you seen him?
R: I haven’t seen Jamal around here for a while, actually.
The Bad Man [we still have yet to see his face] sucks down some beer and tells rIcky that there’s no harm in asking, and leave him just as Jack [a/k/a Bull] enters in haste. He ask rIcky [who must have a sign that says ‘information’ on him somewhere I can’t see it] what’s up and does he know where Livvie is.
rIcky tells him that she was there earlier, but left with Mr. Tall-dark-and-undead. Bull, more upset, says that he has to get her away from Caleb before she gets hurt. He turns to leave, but bumps into [literally] Alison.
A: wait. Wait. Wait. You’ve got to let her go, Bull. You’ve got to let Livvie go.
[Caleb’s apartment]
WE now have a nice overhead shot of Livvie, lying on the bed, and we see new blood-red sheets and Livvie in a new dress [black with red-flowerdy print] and shoes. She awakens and looks around, calling for Caleb. As she stands we see that the apartment is decorated with a ton of black candles [lit] and big bouquets of flowers that are mainly – you guessed it -blood red.
Livvie continues to call for Caleb [and get no answer] she finally turns and – bing! There he is.
She asks him why he didn’t answer her – he says it’s because he likes watching her. She reaches for him “it’s really lonely in bed; I’d like you to come back”
“In a minute” he answers “Well, do you like your surprise” [the flowers and candles, etc] bing! [he’s gone]
L: Caleb!
[he comes up behind her, puts his hand to her back, bared by the low cut of her dress]
C: I want you to have everything. I want you to be happy.
L: [turning] As long as you still want me – that makes me happy
C: I’ll always want you [he bends and picks her up - carries her to the bed where he sits with her on his lap] [this should be romantic – but is actually is very creepy – he keeps staring at her in an unnerving way] What’s the matter, Sweetheart – is that a frown I se on your pretty face?
L: It’s just the room and my dress and the flowers – why are you suddenly being nice to me? What are you doing, Caleb?

[The Elixir – Alison and Bull]
Bull tries to tell Alison that it’s not what she thinks, but Alison is guessing that it IS what she thinks, i.e., he’s going to help Livvie. She guesses that Livvie is in trouble and he is riding to her rescue. He is guessing that it is none of her business. She continues her guesses thinking that Livvie came running to Bull with crocodile tears and an unbuttoned sweater….
He tells her that it was “something” like that. She digs at him some more “and you fell for that?”
He explains that it is complicated and [gets in a dig of his own] says “you know about complicated relationships, don’t you?”
She, who had a nose problem with his business, now resents that inference, “I’m not talking about me, and I’m not talking about Rafe or anyone else. Plus nobody has ever done the thing to me that Livvie has done to you!” [which would ring truer if we didn’t know about her good buddy, Caleb]
B: Let’s say I forgive and call it a secret, all right?
A: you know she is never going to leave Caleb?
B: Probability not - but I’m going to try to talk her out of it and hopefully this time she’ll listen.
A: Give me a break - Look you know Livvie makes her own choices and right now she’s choosing to lean against you again!
B: And I chose to let her.
A: Look, I know that Rafe asked you to cozy up to Livvie to get the ring, but you don’t have to do that anymore, it’s done.
B: IF Rafe walks away, then I’ll walk away.
A: He already has walked away. He knows that no one is going to win this battle [Hmmm. Not what he said: he said that making Ms Alison Happy was more important] – He’s walking away from this whole crusade with Caleb. He is going to focus on us and our future. [or, at least her and her future]
B: And you believe this
A: Yes, I DO believe that! Look I know that we’ve all made mistakes and we’ve hurt people that we love – that we never meant to hurt – but still, everybody’s going to try and just move on with their lives, and I wan to you to do the same.
B: I really appreciate the advice, but we all are going to have to go down our own road.
A: OK – so you’re going to storm the castle and try and get the Princess – what are you going to do then?
B: I can handle it
A: Are you sure – because the last time you tried to handle Caleb – he almost killed you. Is Livvie really worth your whole life?
[And was having the two of them together in a scene really WORTH that much of the show?! Especially with so little time left remaining?]
[Caleb’s apartment]
C: [still holding Livvie on his lap] Why are you always questioning my motives?
L: Because one day I’m here and the next day I’m not.
C: It’s my way of saying I – I forgive you. Would you rather have me knock you over the head and drag you into a cave? [been there, done that]
L: no, no, that’s not what I want - it’s just I know that you don’t forgive that easily.[she slides off his lap to sit next to him] I saw the look in your eye when you told me to get out – I know you were serious.
C: Do you remember your threat the last time I saw you? I will haunt you for eternity, Caleb. It’s true – you will
L: It’s because I was feeling ---
C: insecure. Is that meant to be a real question?
L: Yes – [stands] it is a real question. When you came back to town as Steven Clay, you were trying to drive me crazy – you wouldn’t even admit to me who you really were. I had to pus and push and nearly die for you to get back to me. And now I’m feeling that this is the same thing -This is part of the same punishment, my punishment for hurting you! That’s why all this – the bed – the dress – the way we make love together. I don’t trust it – I always feel like there’s one more trick up your sleeve.
C: [stands] No tricks – love is always going to be a mystery.
L: Well, I love you – I don’t want to feel like I’m always being tested [D-] I don’ t know what you’re going to do next and that scares me. [He goes past her to the door] Where - -? What are you doing now?!
C: [opens the door] Sooner or later we are going to have to start trusting one another. So I’m giving you this choice.
L: You’re throwing me out again? You make love to me and the just toss me out?
The decision is yours, Olivia. You can leave and find someone safer, easier to love – or you can stay – it’s up to you, Sweetheart.
[Commercials]
[Country Restaurant]
J: now that’s a pretty sight...
I: What?
J: your smile. It’s good to see you smile again.
I: It’s this place – it’s the country air and the people – fresh-baked pies on the window sill. Oh, and this [listens] Do you hear that?
J: [still, may I add in the doofy hat] no, I don’t hear a thing.
I: Don’t you hear the music?
J: [leans lifts one side of the doofy hat] no. Nothing but a bunch of crickets just chirping – that’s it.
I: That’s the best song in the whole wide world.
[He smiles, stands]
J: well, we can’t let it go to waste now, can we? May I have this dance?
I: don’t mind if I do
[She stands and they begin to dance slowly]
J: I knew it
I: What?
J: That we’d fit like this. Isn’t it funny that the longer you live the harder it is to find firsts? Like the first time you see snow – or the first time you hit that 3 point shot at the end of the game?
I: Or the First sip of champagne?
J: Or the first time you’re riding your bike on the open highway and the sun’s coming up
I: your first best friend
J: [looks into her eyes] Or the first time you realize you’re staring your future right in the face …[they exchange a long look, then Imani turns away and steps away from him]
I: It’s getting pretty late…
She tells him that he must be exhausted – but he disagrees, saying that he feels great and they could take a walk or something [he leans close and she ‘almost’ kisses him, but then says “Hold on – I’ll be right back.”
J: I’m, starting to like this place more and more
[Back at the Elixir – because one horribly long scene of this was not [apparently] enough for TIIC, we go back to hear more of what Alison thinks of Bull’s involvement with Livvie and Caleb.]
Bull explains that he’s not a fool and he’s helping a friend –Alison snipes that Livvie won’t be grateful - Bull asks what if this was Jamal – she says that’s not the same, but he counters that it was someone she cared about and she’s save him if she saw him going down a dark alley and this is the same. Alison says that Jamal has never tried to kill her and has not broken her heart over and over again [and since she did try to kill her own boyfriend I think she’s living in a glass house and chucking rocks] and Alison adds that Livvie’s NOT a friend – she’s just a HABIT and there is a big difference.
Alison’s last comments are that he should think about what she says and he has this ‘cool place’ [the Elixir] [and I thought the Recovery Room was tons better] and a new life and there are lots of ladies who are not Livvie out there and if he needs anything just call her [and THANK you the scene is over]
Now rIcky joins Bull [with a couple of beers] [this just ISN’T my day, it seems]
rIcky points out that it seemed like a pretty heavy scene [for once rIcky and I agree on something] rIcky goes on to complain that both his girls left him and he doesn’t have a band anymore. Bull offers him a job mixing drinks, but rIcky wants to remain a drummer.
rIcky tells Bull that Caleb is making plans for big changes and not necessarily good ones. That he is a whole new Caleb [and worse] – if you ask rIcky – that Caleb is one selfish dude he shows him a sample of part of Caleb’s new song:
With all of the warnings – all the signs – you still tried to take what’s mine so, with the promise of my kiss, you’ll never know a pain like this
rIcky points out that he’d hate to be Livvie right now – because if that song is any indication, Caleb is one pi$$ed off vampire.
[Backed to the Maddened one]
C: You still think I’m playing a game – go – I won’t stand in your way
L: [closes the door] You know I want to be here
C: I think you made the right decision
L: so, you really forgive me?
C: I don’t have much of a choice, do I? We’re meant to be together – you said so yourself. Oh, I wanted to hate you. I tried to erase you from my memory – I even thought for a brief moment, about killing you to get you out of my system. But killing you would be like killing myself. You’re in my blood, Olivia [pun intended?]
L: We always wind up hurting each other
C: We’ll probably end up fighting each other through eternity but, we’re tied together – I know that now.
L: You do know that when I took your ring – I took it because I love you – I never meant to hurt you.
C: It’s your nature – a scorpion can’t help but sting. So that’s it - I either accept you flaws and all or – I destroy you. I’ve made my decision
[He leans over and kisses her]
[Commercials]
[Country Restaurant] [Jamal is seated [backwards] on a chair, holding the back with his hands and with his eyes shut]
[Imani enters from the back door, holding a tin can. She is dressed in jeans and shirt. The shirt is tied up under her bosom, exposing her midriff.]
I: No peaking or you’ll ruin the surprise [she puts the can behind her back]
J: I wouldn’t want to do that, would I?
I: Open up
[He looks at her – likes the outfit –likes it – but wants to know what is gong on]
I: I want to take you someplace that you’ve never been and show you something that you’ve never seen …
J: Why did you have to change clothes?
I: It could get a little dirty
J: I like dirty [big grin] Dirty is interesting.
I: Yeah? Close you eyes again [she places one hand on his face to help him] – give me your hand [puts the can in his hand] now open them
J: [looks in can] Agh!! Worms!?!
I: [laughing] are you surprised [he is]
J: I was expecting maybe – a sexy kiss or champagne – but worms?!
I: they’re not just worms – they’re night crawlers – it’s bait! We’re going to go fishing! [she puts the can close to his face ] ooo ooo oooo [agh! He jumps again]
Is
[Back in PC, the woodsman’ [out on the street and using his cell phone] he tells [whoever] that he is in the right place. Jamal has business here friends and connections – if he lays low in PC someone is sure to lead him to Jamal]
[Inside the Elixir, rIcky and Bull are still discussing Caleb’s song]
rIcky points out that it is as dark and nasty as it gests; if you listen to it, you want to run out of town. So, what is Bull you going to do about Livvie?
Bull says “nothing.” Livvie made her bed with Caleb; she can just lie in it.
rIcky says that there are plenty of good women in this world – and he doesn’t know why they keep choosing the crazy ones. rIcky leaves Bull alone to enjoy his beer. He does take one drink – but keeps fiddling with the smashed lyrics of the song.
[Back at Black candles R Us]
[Caleb and Livvie are now snuggled [apparently naked] in bed once more]
Caleb asks Livvie what she’s thinking about. She says how lucky she is to have someone like him to do all this for her and to her life with love and to know they are still standing through all of this…..
C: Against all odds. This calls for a celebration. Something to celebrate our reunion.
L: I am happy being here with you, by your side.
C: I want so much more for you – for us. You know I’ve always considered you my bride. But, I want the whole world for us – we had our own private ceremony a long time ago, but what if we were to make it official?
L: Are you talking about a real wedding?
C: I want you forever, Olivia. I want you for all the days of eternity for all the reasons I can’t live without you. For your beauty, for your heart …
L: Caleb. Are your asking me to marry you?
C: For better or worse, [mostly worse, I suspect] will you be my wife?
L: Yes! Yes!
[And the show is over]
