First and foremost...Halyna Hutchins is dead, and no matter what the outcome of any resulting criminal or civil cases relating to her death, she cannot be brought back and her family and friends will likely never fully stop grieving her loss. My heart goes out to them.

Second...the judge here did her job and did it well. Kudos to her. The state/prosecutor did not. Shame on them.

That being said...though it may not be the case, it absolutely feels to me like AB is going to avoid jail time because of his celebrity. I don't care what he claims...he shot her. Dad is familiar with the type of gun used and it doesn't shoot itself. Whether AB meant to pull the trigger can be debated. The armorer is *definitely* at fault for handing AB a weapon with a live round, and she has been punished accordingly. BUT...AB was the producer on this film, and as such, the responsibility of maintaining a safe set falls on him. And actor or not, he should've double-checked that the gun in his hand was not loaded, and he definitely shouldn't have been aiming it anywhere near a person. You can use angles to fake shooting AT a person.

A lot of comments after that YT video boils down to one of two statements (and sometimes both): "AB is innocent and should never have been charged" and "It was a tragic accident. Accidents happen". If it truly was an unpreventable accident, then yes, he shouldn't have been charged. But was it truly preventable?

The case reminds me of one that happened in 2003 in a county next to mine. An 8 year old boy was electrocuted at a county fair while riding the dodge 'ems. He unfortunately did not survive. Ultimately it was discovered that the ride hadn't been grounded properly. Five different people were found guilty in his "tragic accident": the electrician (an 80 year old man who'd worked at the fair as an electrician for over 40 years...and had never been licensed), two state ride inspectors, the ride operator and the ride owner. If all those people--some of whom served jail time (I don't recall this many years later which ones other than the electrician)--could be found guilty in the death of Greyson Yoe, how can AB be innocent of any criminal charges when he both pulled the trigger and was in charge of the overall safety on the set?
