After all, it was Nina who insisted Willow leave with the children instead of allowing the kids to go to bed and Willow and Michael talking -- even if it was to agree to give each other space, spend Christmas with the kids and talk about "what next" after Christmas.
So we have Carly demanding Martin serve papers -- which he absolutely could not do without talking to Michael first -- sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
It wasn't helped with Willow acting morally outraged that Michael would serve divorce papers without talking to her, while she has her love spending Christmas Eve with her and Michael's children.
