I just finished watching the premiere. Overall, it was good. It did hold my attention and I will continue to watch. Talk about a role reversal. I mean this in the most respectable way, so forgive me if it doesn't come out right. I am 51 years old and grew up watching soaps. Aside from Generations, which debut in 1989--it has always been daytime and primetime soap that featured a majority White cast and people of color were sprinkled in. This was the opposite. That was refreshing but also a shame that it's been 35 years since Generations went off the air.
The Good:
Opulence
Classy
The clothes
Wealth
Success
Attractive cast
The POC have great careers: Former Senator, Congressman, Doctor, Surgeon, Attorney, Detective, model/influencer
Hotness overload with the men š„
There will be an interracial gay couple
The Bad:
The acting was a little wooden from some.
It was in HD but it didn't always look like HD. I expected things to pop and they did not.
This pains me. Clifton Davis is a wonderful actor but I just don't feel like he is right for his role.
Karley Mosley. I am not very familiar with her previous gigs but she was chewing the scenery here and it just came off as fake/cheesy.
They took commercial breaks at weird times. I'm trying to explain it. Like, the characters would be having a conversation and then commercial and it felt a bit disjointed.
I would give it a B+. It was the premiere, so hopefully they will find their groove quickly.
