The MetroCourt hostage story came to a peak today and soon we will see who lives and who dies.
When the curtain rose today on the scene, there was no change. Carly had just figured out the code to the briefcase (which she had correctly deduced was based on the name of Alcazar's first love) and Sonny was trying to use this as a bargaining chip with Craig to get her freed.
Things were getting increasingly tense in the lobby--and as we shall see later, it wasn't a picnic for those outside the hotel.
Speaking of the lobby, Spinelli was able to override the vault security system to get the vault to open early. He told Lulu he wanted to do this to help get her freed; declaring that "the Jackal was going to make sure that nothing happened to her." Actually, Spinelli having a crush on Lulu is very sweet! Hope the writers develop this storyline...
Back to the action!! As Spinelli does this, Lulu fingers Laura's engagement ring, which she's wearing on a chain; saying that it makes her feel like Laura's watching over her.
Father Matteo finally snaps; killing the agent who has been goading him. The female agent shoots him back, and Sam has a melt-down in the process.
Sam starts yelling that Matteo is no better than his brother; he's a cold-blooded freak, yada yada, when Craig makes her tend to Matteo's wounds as a result! This is why it's always good to keep your mouth shut! Helllooo??
As Sam help Matteo, Jason sneaks over to her and hands her a ski mask, telling her to go when he gives the signal.
Meanwhile, the temperature's rising in the vault. Maxie and Agent Three are getting closer and it's getting hotter. Three finds a fan, which they are using and they are still sharing their best food fantasies. The vault opens, thanks to Spinelli's work, giving Three time to put his ski mask back on, and Craig takes everyone with the briefcase back to the lobby.
People are also starting to lose it outside of the Metrocourt. Luke gets arrested again, and Mac is forced to have him handcuffed to a drainpipe. He's right across from the medical triage area, staffed by GH staff members, led by none other than Epiphany.
Now since Liz is a hostage, and she and Epiphany seem like they are the only nurses who work there, leads me to wonder who's working back at the ranch, right?
Luke starts working on Epiphany, trying to get her to release him and she tells him off--naturally she's the only one who has the guts to do it!
The triage area gets its first patient when Ric brings over Alexis, who signed herself out of GH against medical advice to come to the scene, and almost collapses.
Back to the lobby. Craig has managed to get the briefcase open, thanks to Sonny, and offers Carly her freedom. She refuses--and the power in the hotel goes out.
Before all chaos breaks loose, Sam gets the signal from Jason and is able to escape; jumping out of a window on the second floor, telling everyone that the lobby is rigged for explosives.
The SWAT team still storms the hotel, and this scene has an almost surreal quality. We can't tell much about what's happening, but here is what's obvious: Nickolas saves Robin, carrying her out of the lobby wrapped in a blanket. It also seems like Sonny and Carly survive, but it's hard to tell. It seems like we're all going to have to wait for Monday to get the rest of the story!
