Sonny and Kate – December 26, 2008, to January 1, 2009

It was the beginning of Robin’s wedding to Patrick, on December 26, 2008. The memories of Stone were reflected on as legendary scenes of Stone aired prior to the beginning of the wedding. Including scenes in which Robin revealed that she had tested positive for HIV.

In a few hours, “Operation Cast Lead” began in the Middle East; a war between Hamas and Israel.

The week to come was precarious and choices were consequential at every turning point.

A characteristic of this story arc was that there were more than one version of scenes and episodes.

It’s a technology that exists but is not known to people. In the version that I watched, Robin’s wedding did not bring her happiness as the consequences of the war created some disruptions.

On December 30, 2008, Spinelli and Maxie had scenes together. Spinelli was a “truth teller” and, at some juncture, revealed truths about the story. On December 30, 2008, Spinelli mentioned the story of Romeo and Juliet to Maxie and how it became a masterpiece after Shakespeare had to re-write it as the first version was damaged and destroyed. That the story of Romeo and Juliet became a masterpiece “because of a rewrite”.

Was this a reference to the story of Sonny and Kate and its paths and possibilities?

On December 31, 2007, Sonny and Kate spent New Year’s Eve together at an art gallery party with Kate’s friends. In this episode, it was implied or suggested that the story of Sonny and Kate had a resemblance to the old movie “An Affair to Remember”. Alluding to the possibility that there was a hidden secret from the past that cast its shadow on their romance. There is more to this scene and its implications.

On January 1, 2009, it was mentioned on the soap forum “soapdish” that “Sonny and Kate make love at the black and white ball”. On November 5, 2007, Sonny and Kate made love at the black and white ball. This nearly coincided with the anniversary of the hostage crisis.

Was there a reason that “it was said/implied” that this episode re-aired on January 1, 2009? Was this an element of the series of the black and white scenes in the story of Sonny and Kate? Among other things.

The story of Sonny and Kate was to conclude with a love scene. A love scene that never materialized.

Was this mimicking the theme of another old and dark movie/story? What was the reason behind this setting? Taking into account the setup mentioned before in relation to scenes aired on December 12, 2008?

Why was the story written this way? We should demand answers.
