She was the editor in chief for 9 years. She had a relationship and trust with her employees, who could very well resent Carly because her boyfriend gave her the job.
Maxie knew the business. She and Nina were close. She realized what was happening with Julian using her so she helped her and Nina picked up on things quickly.
