It took a long time for Carly to accept that Jason would be her friend. She knew that Jason was the one who totally understood her and could be depended upon to have her back and Jason could be there for Carly when her schemes blew up ...and Jason knew those schemes would be aimed at him if they were in a romance.
I think one of the reasons Carly was so angry at Nina was not only for the pain of mourning Sonny's death .... but putting in the position of allowing herself to see a future with Jason. Just as she finally has her wedding with Jason and is looking forward to their wedding night .. Nina pulls that out from under her feet. So in addition to her anger and having to adjust to loosing her husband, she had to loose Jason. I think that is part of the reason why Carly kept Sonny as arm's length when he returned.
I thought a Jason/Britt/Carly triangle would have been interesting since Carly and Britt were played by equally strong actors. Since that isn't an option, I will be interested to see how quickly Carly's turns from Drew to Jason.
