Why they suddenly believed that he has fallen under Sonny's charms at his word alone is beyond me. But then she re-hires him to babysit a grown man LOL. And then literally clutched her pearls today when called out on it.
This is why I said Sonny is hella inconsistent. He is absolutely livid with Nina for lying to him and that she called in a tip that could have landed Donna's mother in prison for a crime she DID commit but he talks calmly with Carly like a wounded bird and makes small talk about Joss.
