poisoning caused her psychotic behavior. It's been stated more than once. We don't know exactly when she got the hip replacement. They only said it was decades ago. They might not ever tell us the exact year of the hip replacement. Saying it was decades ago allows them to be vague about something that likely didn't happen onscreen. And how Laura is choosing to be with Sonny vs Heather is heavy-handed but she doesn't have to handle them the same way. Sonny is a lifelong criminal and has ordered countless people killed. And he's a lot more mentally stable than Heather is. Laura seeing what Sonny did to Cyrus with his bare hands was just the marble that tipped the scale. She should have distanced herself from him a long time ago--especially being the mayor. The optics are bad for her to associate with a known criminal.

Heather has had a history of mental problems even before the cobalt poisoning and committed questionable acts before she started killing people. I will agree with you that the plot is stupid--I never said it wasn't. [link]

But we are dealing with daytime writing where people come back from the dead multiple times. Have evil twins. Survive explosions. And in Erica Kane's case--saw the return of the fetus she had aborted decades earlier.

Aside from having her save the warden's life or a bus load full of school kids--there was never going to be a viable reason to have Heather sprung from prison. They want her back on the canvas FT and this is how they elected to do it. I don't like it but it is what it is.
