after all, she was holding off talking to Michael because she wanted the kids to have a normal Christmas before their world tumbled down.

Instead they get to spend Christmas with her snugglebunny partner because she doesn't want him to be alone for Christmas. Apparently doesn't care if Michael is alone and without his kids for Christmas.
