years later, they brought the character back from the dead. they couldn't the original actor so they had a stand in actor so they didn't show his face and then he was burnt in a lab fire and was sent to recover from 2nd and 3rd degrees.

a few years later, they hired a new actor to play ej after years of recovering from his burns
