Emily is talking to a man in a doctor suit reading cue cards about letting Carly out of Rose Lawn for the holidays. She admits that Carly is over the top and manipulative, but that these are her normal attributes. Carly comes in on them and, without hearing their conversation, tells the doctor not to believe Emily. She tells the doctor that Emily just wants to steal her family and make sure she can't go home. The doctor then reads something about Emily trying to convince him to let Carly go.
Jax is still playing the lovable drunk with Courtney and apologizes for everything he did - except loving her. It's sweet, but Courtney doesn't buy it. He tries to remind her of how hard she fought for him before they were married. She tells him that she won't shut him out of the baby's life, but she isn't coming back to him. When Nikolas calls she gets all gooey and the "I love you's" pour out. Then she turns back to Jax and they finish decorating the tree. Jax offers to call a cab home several times and Courtney tells him he's too drunk to go and that he should stay. Looks like they'll spend Christmas together.
Sam runs into Alexis at the hospital and lets her have it for trying to get Manny acquitted for his crimes. She reminds Alexis how Manny almost killed all of them and how he shot Jason just to get her attention. Alexis then proceeds to compare Jason and Manny's brain conditions and states that while Jason isn't as twisted as Manny, he is just a dangerous. Sam is about to flatten her when Sonny steps into the fight. It doesn't work. Alexis claims it is all about justice. No one really buys this.
Justice continues stalking Lainey and catches up with her and her much-older "date" at a nice restaurant. He then proceeds to make a fool of himself by confronting the man and inquiring about Lainey. When Lainey calls him out to explain why he is ruining her holiday dinner with her father, he finally feels embarrassed by his behavior. She explains that her father has Alzheimer's and that it has been getting worse. All the broken dates with Justice were about her attempts to protect and help her father, not about her feelings for Justice. Looks like Justice will spend the New Year apologizing for being such a butt.
Lucky manages to find the last "Speedwheel" in town for Cameron's Christmas. He's disappointed that Cameron has already gone to bed by the time he gets home as he and Liz wanted the full Christmas Eve-waiting-for-Santa experience. He then attempts to put the tricycle together and only needs a little help from Liz at the end. They cozy up for the traditional "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," and soon end up making it a very special night indeed.
Everyone is showing up at General Hospital for the big Christmas party. Georgie, Maxie, Brook Lynn, and Alice are joined in elfhood by the reluctant but cute LuLu. Alan reads the biblical story and a rather "tipsy" Noah plays Santa. Michael pushes through the line of kids to get to Santa and ask that Santa bring Morgan his Mommy for Christmas. Conveniently, Carly walks through the doors and makes Santa's job easy. That's good because Patrick soon decides that Noah needs to stagger on home before he scars the children permanently.
Patrick later catches up with Noah at the Metro Court. Noah has a drink in hand and tells Patrick that he doesn't blame him for hating him. Patrick remembers a Christmas before his Mom died when Noah had been called away for an emergency operation on Christmas. Patrick had been mad because Mom wouldn't let him open his presents until Noah got home. She told him that, really, he should be proud that his Daddy could save a life. He thinks that, maybe, he gets it now.
Michael and Morgan are thrilled to see their Mom. She takes them to her new place which is great, but it doesn't have a tree or any decorations at all. Michael is a little non-plussed. Magically, Sonny sends Max over to Carly's house with the Christmas tree - complete with presents- from his house.
Alexis and Ric are ecstatic with their little family - even if Kristina told Sonny that she loves him.
Jason and Sam are happy to just be existing, especially when Sam gives Jason a 1-day pass from the hospital as a Christmas present.
All the cast without storylines are woven into a lovely montage of holiday cheer and hugs and gift-giving.
Only Sonny is left alone on Christmas Eve. Until Emily shows up...
