A sad day in Port Charles, as one of the great characters in GH history passes away. Dr. Tony Jones, who first was known just as Frisco's brother in the 80's and then developed a loyal following of his own, died from the killer virus today. We will miss him!
Tony went quickly and with dignity. He got the chance to make peace and say goodbye to the people who meant the most to him--his family and the Doctors Quartermaine. Even Luke stopped by and said good-bye to his "ex-bro in law". We were treated to a beautiful scene with Lucas, where Tony told him that he was proud of him and admired his courage and strength and said that he was going to need them being out of the closet. The scene with Bobbie was even better and in my opinion, was just as good as the scenes after BJ's death. I got misty when Tony said to Bobbie, "We've both had experience with people leaving for work or school and not coming back". (As you might recall, BJ was killed during a school bus accident). BJ came for her dad right before he died--and as Luke said, I'm sure that Tony had "a hell of a journey".
The scene was capped off when Patrick came in with a dose of the serum right after Tony had died--too little, too late. He was joined by Noah, who also said goodbye. The only other thing I wanted was a nice retrospective of Tony thru the years, which IMHO was much deserved.
Not much else happened. The most newsworthy developments are that Jax is back in town (looking for Courtney, big surprise!) and walked in on Mike at Kelly's, who now is officially down with the virus. Before Jax got the paramedics to cart Mike off to GH, he left a voicemail on Carly's cell phone, which leads us to the other main storyline of today's episode: the adventures of Carly, the ho.
Jason and Carly are still in the Markham Islands, looking for an antidote, when Carly gets the brilliant idea of faking it, so that she can get into the lab where Lucky's being held hostage. Carly's latest hare-brained scheme dujour works, and she's dumped into the lab where Lucky's being held. She's freeing Lucky from his restraints, when the mad scientist who dreamed up the whole virus walks in and tries to inject Carly with it, when Jason shoots his way into the room.
And finally, this week's Friday afternoon cliffhanger is: now that Tony has passed on, there's one dose of serum hanging out--which can either go to Sonny or to Nicholas. And naturally, Patrick turns to Emily the Medical student, who's had a thing with both of them (and is taking care of no other patients than these two), to play god and make the decision who gets it! And as Sonny says, "so our moral records are more important than our medical ones?" Stay tuned!
