He literally lost his father hours ago and here she is on her high horse. She is 💯% protecting based on her prior experience. But she’s clearly not emotionally capable to handle the situation. She meant well but she made the situation worse which is why he likely kicks her out today.
She knows why he drank. As you said—get him thru the nigh, loop in Chase, and urge him to go to a meeting first thing in the morning.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions and she chose the the wrong road in that moment.
