Jerry verDorn (Clint) recalled a naughty moment of a shooting incident, as a nine-year-old boy growing up in the Dakotas. He grew so mad at a neighbor, he took his Daisy Air Rifle BB gun and shot the kid in the kid’s own house. “He didn’t even feel the BB, but I was forced to go over and knock on his door and apologize to his mother and to him. I had my Red Rider hat on, so I wasn’t too imposing.” –Soap Opera Digest, May 13, 2008

Ever since she was a little girl, Lisa Fath knew her daughter Farah (Gigi) had something special that stood her out. She was always taking very good care of herself, her younger sister, always knew what she wanted, worked hard to achieve her aspirations. At such a young age as five, she knew she desired to become a model and through the Images Model and Talent Agency in Lexington, KY. Always mature and ambitious for her age, Farah would astound her mom. But there was a period at age 17 when Farah went through a rebellious, finding herself stage, admitted Lisa. “She had a boyfriend who was wanting her to grow up, and I was like, ‘Keep in mind, people, she’s still 17.’” One of the biggest moments of pride for Farah’s mom was when Farah decided to quit DOOL and try a new, bigger challenge. Other moments Lisa Fath will always treasure were the times her daughter, all grown up, took care of her as a kind of thanks for the support. Because of Farah’s fame as a soap celebrity, she was able to take her mom as a guest to the 2006 Daytime Emmys and enjoy a Mother’s Day makeover c/o SOAPnet. –Soap Opera Digest, “Mother Knows Zest,” May 13, 2008

At first glance, one might assume Tika Sumpter’s and alter-ego Layla’s fashion styles were similar. But Sumpter differentiates herself from Layla in her versatility and changeability. Layla may be fun and funky, but Sumpter transcends generations of fashion sensibility, from 60s bohemian/hippie to 80s upscale business. Sumpter said she’s a big fan of the 60s/70s, the bell-bottoms, flowery dresses, wedge heels, and Twiggy make-up.

Chris Stack (Michael) came back to OLTL in a most roundabout way. He once played a drug dealer trying to lure Nathaniel Marston’s Al into taking speed. Marston would later go on to play Michael, with Al’s soul taking over. At audition time for Marston’s role of Michael, Stack came in thinking it was for something else. The June 13th-born Stack was not informed beforehand, he had to later ask Kathy Brier (Marcie) in a whisper if this was indeed Michael. Taking over for Marston, Stack said, was a tremendous challenge, and he acknowledged his predecessor’s big shoes to fill. “He was a staple on the show for years. And I don’t blame people for being suspect about a recast, but I’ve gotten some incredibly supportive letters.” Acting isn’t Stack’s only forte. He has his own theater company named the CRY HAVOC Company, established since 1997, he stars in an upcoming indie called The Undying and gigs with band Sensi-tip and the Suggestions. His drumming prowess even earned him a spot on Jack Black’s hit movie, School of Rock, where he played a heavy-metal musician taking over for Black’s character in a band. –Soap Opera Digest, May 13, 2008

Tune in to ABC Daytime’s talk show The View May 15 for Kristen Alderson (Starr) and Brandon Buddy (Cole). Their purpose will be to pump up the teen pregnancy storyline on OLTL.

Jason Cook (ex-Shawn, DOOL) was supposedly in high demand. Two major ABC Daytime soaps coveted him, OLTL and GH. But GH won. He’ll show up there as a doctor (Patrick’s younger sibling?) and interact with his former DOOL colleague Kirsten Storms who plays Maxie.

OLTL might celebrate its 40th anniversary as a show by bringing back, momentarily or long-term, some blasts from the past, including Judith Light (ex-Karen), Renee Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline), Dan Gauthier (ex-Kevin) and Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey).
